Reviews
Mark is a great coach. He's improved my swing tremendously based on my personal strengths and biomechanics. He's very knowledgeable about swing concepts but breaks things down into feels that are easy enough to practice after each session. Since working with him, I've gone from a 4 to scratch handicap. My last lesson had an immediate effect on my ball-striking. I hit 15 greens in my first round since. Golf is hard at any level, but finding a good coach like Mark is invaluable.
just said: "mark you've changed my game so quickly. i've started to find what you were talking about and everything is flowing at the right time." great coach. 10/10 recommend. have improved immensely in just a few months
Mark has helped me improve my game greatly over the years. From putting, short game, irons and driver. All areas of my game have improved. He keeps things simple to address my areas needing improvement and what my swing feels vs real are. Looking forward to continuing my lessons with him and would recommend to all golf skill levels!
I've been seeing Mark for the past 3 years. He's not only dropped my handicap to a 2.6 but more importantly has improved my swing / mechanics and making me aware of faults that were causing inconsistencies. He's verrrry knowledge about the body and everything that goes into a professional swing. Mark is also good about simplifying very complex movements into “feels” that are easy to take to the range and practice. Id highly recommend if you're looking for a solid swing / golf coach. In person lesson with video feedback has been so helpful. My favorite part about him is he backs up his knowledge by still shooting humble 65's 😂.
Mark deserves more than 5 stars, I highly recommend him whether you are just starting golf(me)or more advanced like my husband. He explains things so clearly with an incredible eye for details and a positive patient attitude that made learning easier than I expected. He finishes all of the lessons with a video of him recapping what was learned, which I love to view as a refresher before my next practice session.
I've worked with a number of golf coaches over the years, and I can honestly say Mark is one of the best I've ever met. Most coaches can teach the mechanics, but very few have the kind of genuine passion, intelligence, and clarity that Mark brings to every lesson. He doesn't just tell you what to do — he helps you understand why it works. The way he explains the game makes everything click and actually stick. One of my favorite experiences was when he met me at the course to play a full round together. Being able to apply what I'd learned in real time, with his tips and insights along the way, made all the difference. That kind of hands-on commitment is rare, and it shows how much he truly cares about his students' growth. There's no referral program or incentive here — I just owe him this review. Mark is the real deal. If you're serious about improving your game, learning from someone who genuinely loves to teach, and getting clear, intelligent instruction, Mark is the coach you want.
I played golf in high school and took a few lessons but never met an instructor as passionate and helpful as Mark. He measured my swing with his super cool 3D technology and was able to immediately identify what I needed to improve along with what data to expect from my ball/club when I make the change correctly. I left with specific homework and he gave me his personal cell # to send progress videos of my homework in between our lessons. Handicap has been dropping, Mark is my guy!
I've been seeing Mark for awhile now, both in person at his shop and online where I've sent him videos of my swing for him to analyze. He's extremely detailed and knowledgeable about the golf swing, and has always explained/demonstrated things in a way that are easy to understand. What I've been most happy about is his availability and attitude towards wanting to help and see me improve - answering texts all day and night, sending over videos with drills and feels for me to try, staying at his shop well past my allotted lesson time just to make sure I understand what I'm working on and that it's helping me, etc. I'd highly recommend getting a lesson booked if you're looking for help with your golf game.
Very few golf instructors are as knowledgeable and informed as Mark is, and even fewer are able to translate that insight into player-driven results the way he is capable of. On the golf swing specifically, he's well versed in a variety of different schools of thought (has worked with some of the best in the industry - George Gankas, Dana Dahlquist, Scott Cowx) and endlessly curious of how he can apply different strategies to different players based on their personal tendencies and what will work best. This is a unique approach - most golf pros only have one set of tools to draw from and apply a one-size-fits-all to all players. Whether you're a first time beginner, an amateur in high school, a weekend warrior/hacker, or a seasoned scratch player, Mark will help you take big steps in your game and arm you to improve on your own.
Great instructor who can explain the golf swing and the mechanics in a easy way to learn. He lets you send him videos in between lessons so you can check if you are doing things correctly. He even spends extra time after your lesson is over to make sure you completely understand what you are doing. After the lesson he will give you a recap of what you worked on as well some drills to work on. He has a trackman, instant video feedback, a swing catalyst, and a variety of other tools to help you. After two lessons I added 15 yards and am hitting it straighter than ever! Can't wait to finish up my other lessons to see what else I can do. Best instruction I've had so far compared to other instructors I've had in the past. His passion for helping you get better and his knowledge of the game is outstanding.
On my recent trip to LA with my husband we decided to take some golf lessons from Mark Odenthal. We couldn't be more pleased with the how our experience went! Mark teaches in a state of the art private studio. He made us both feel so comfortable, we even had a follow-up FaceTime call and will be start his online lesson program soon . 10/10
Such an amazing experience with Mark! I came in with little to no golf experience and left being able to carry my driver over 150yards in the air!! I'd highly recommend as he communicates very well and you can tell he enjoys teaching.
Mark is the most easy going but yet effective coach! As a total newb, his approach was all about me, my comfort and abilities. He kept it simple. Patient and a great listener. He helped me get out there to have a good time. That's what it's about!
Excellent coaching that incorporates a large variety of drills and technology to help golfers improve. Mark goes the extra mile and provides video instruction in between lessons that accelerates progression.
I've done golf lessons with another instructor in the past and felt like my progress plateau'd which eventually discouraged me after a year of trying. I decided to take some lessons with Mark after seeing how patient he is with my boys starting with no golf experience. On my first lesson, I hit up to 60 yards further than my baseline. He delved into the body mechanics and physics aspect after analyzing my swing in a way that made so much sense to me. It's almost like an awakening! I look forward to my next lessons as the first fueled my desire to golf again.
I was a frustrated hacker until I met Mark. Since meeting Mark, I'm enjoying golf again and actually hitting the ball. Mark's teaching style helps you learn the game at a comfortable pace with simple concepts which don't overwhelm you.
Who knew golf is actually fun! My friend bought me a lesson with Mark Odenthal for my birthday and I think I'm addicted now lol He did a great job keeping it light and simple for me, even left with a cool recap video of what I learned.
As a complete beginner I was nervous about taking lessons but Mark made learning fun and provided a stress free environment with his private studio. I left each lesson feeling like I unlocked a new piece of my swing and leveled up towards my goals. Highly recommend!
Mark is an amazing golf instructor. He is very passionate and thorough. Each of our lessons has gone extra time with no expense. He really cares and makes sure you get the absolute most out of everything he teaches. He even allows and encourages you to send him videos between/after lessons that he watches and will let you know how your doing. If your looking for golf lessons, look no further mark is excellent and you won't regret seeing him!

Frequently asked questions
What happens during the first lesson?
Your first lesson starts with a conversation about your game, your goals, and what you want to improve. From there, Mark will look at your swing, explain what is happening, and give you a focused plan. Depending on the lesson, swing analysis, ball data, and 3D motion tools may be used to make things easier to understand.
Will I get overwhelmed with swing thoughts?
No. The goal is not to give you ten things to think about. The goal is to find the one or two changes that can make the biggest difference. You'll leave with a better understanding of your swing and a clear idea of what to work on next.
Do you teach beginners?
Yes. Beginners are welcome. If you are just getting started, lessons can help you build the right foundation early, understand the basics, and avoid habits that become harder to fix later.
Do you work with advanced players?
Yes. Advanced players can use lessons to tighten ball striking, improve consistency, add speed, understand matchups, or work through specific misses. The coaching can be as simple or as detailed as your game requires.
What if I've taken lessons before and they didn't help?
That's common. A good lesson should help you understand why the ball is doing what it's doing and what to change first. Mark's goal is to make the swing easier to understand, not more confusing.
Do I need my own clubs?
If you have clubs, bring them. If you are new and do not have a full set yet, reach out before booking and Mark can help you figure out the best next step.
Should I book a single lesson or a package?
A single lesson is a great starting point if you want to meet Mark, get feedback, and understand what needs to change. A package is better if you want to build a plan, track progress, and make the changes stick over time.
How soon will I see improvement?
Some players feel a difference right away. Others need time to build the movement and trust it on the course. Either way, you'll leave with a clear plan and a better understanding of what needs to happen next.
Is the lesson more technical or more feel-based?
Both. Some golfers learn best through data and video. Others learn best through feels, drills, and simple cues. Mark uses the tools that help you understand the fastest.
Can you help me take my range swing to the course?
Yes. Lessons can focus on ball striking, shot shape, decision-making, pre-shot routine, and how to make your swing hold up under pressure. The goal is not just to look better on video. It's to play better golf.
What should I bring to a lesson?
Bring your clubs, golf shoes or athletic shoes, and any notes about what you want to improve. If you have recent swing videos, stats, or common misses, those can be helpful too.
